At the Barrowland Ballroom, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all our customers attending shows. Our accessibility measures are designed to ensure that everyone feels safe, comfortable, and respected.
TICKET AVAILABILITY: For every show, our Promoters and Ticket Agents provide a supply of tickets specifically for wheelchair users and ambulant persons. When you purchase an accessible ticket, you confirm that either you or a member of your party requires this position. All tickets are controlled by the Promoters and Ticket Agents, not by the Barrowland Ballroom.
METHOD OF ENTRY: Accessible ticket holders should not join the General Admission queue for entry. Instead, they should proceed directly to the front door and present their tickets to any steward on duty. Ambulant persons may use the main stairway if desired, but there is also an alternative doorway designated for wheelchair users. Our stewards are more than happy to assist with any special requirements.
WHEELCHAIR USERS: the Barrowland does not currently have an accessible lift. we provide access to upper floors using a mechanical stairclimber (different from a conventional chairlift), which has been operated safely by trained stewards for over ten years.
The stairclimber is limited by the manufacturer’s guidelines and can only be used with standard, non‑powered wheelchairs. it cannot be used with powered wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or adapted/modified wheelchairs, as these cannot be safely secured to the stairclimber.
if required, we can provide a standard manual wheelchair for use within the venue.
Please note* We currently have a building warrant application pending with Glasgow City Council to install an accessible lift. we are working through the various stages of the process, which is complex due to the age and characteristics of a building constructed in the 1960s. we will keep customers updated as soon as we have further progress.
SEATING AREA: Inside the main ballroom, we have a raised platform specifically for wheelchair users, with space for one companion each. Additionally, there is another raised seated area for ambulant persons, also with space for one companion each. Wheelchairs are restricted to the designated platform area in compliance with regulations. Please note, that companion tickets are controlled by the Promoters and Ticket Agents, not by the Barrowland Ballroom.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to make the Barrowland Ballroom accessible to all. If you have any further questions or require assistance, please do contact us.
